The Barnacle Valley ( English for barnacle valley ) is an ice-free valley in East Antarctic Victoria Land . It is 3 miles west-northwest of Nunatak Dotson Ridge in the Convoy Range .
The team of the New Zealand Antarctic Research Program , which worked in this valley between 1989 and 1990 , descriptively named it after the numerous polygonal press hills with which the valley floor is littered and which are reminiscent of oversized barnacles .
