Barney Reisz (* 1960 in London , United Kingdom ) is a British television and film producer .

Live and act

Reisz came to the film industry through his father, the famous British director Karel Reisz of Czech origin, when he gave the eight-year-old boy a brief appearance in Douglas Hickox 's short film Les bicyclettes de Belsize, which lasts barely half an hour . As a young adult, Karel took his son by his side and in 1985 gave him the job of location manager for Karel's own production Sweet Dreams , thus enabling Barney's professional entry into the film business. In the years that followed, Barney Reisz learned his trade in the classic way, in which he went through all stations in film production, from the unit manager and production manager to the producer. For the tightly budgeted film The Woodlanders , Barney Reisz was first able to work as a sole producer in 1996. In the following years he made cinema and television productions, feature films and series as well as documentaries.

For one of these works, the short film It's Good to Talk , Reisz received an Oscar nomination in 1998 in the category Best Short Film. Numerous of his other productions have also received nominations and awards: his two-part television series Elizabeth I (2005) won a Primetime Emmy and a Peabody Award in 2006, and an International Emmy Award was given six years later for Black Mirror , also one (2011) for the Television made production. In 2012 Barney Reisz received the Golden Rose for the same series . At the Monte Carlo TV Festival in 2009, his production The Shooting of Thomas Hurndall , which was released the previous year, was rewarded with the Golden Nymph. There has also been an abundance of nominations for Reisz productions from the British Academy Film Awards , the Broadcast Awards, the PGA Awards and the Royal Television Society of Great Britain.
