Baron Cawley

Baron Cawley , of Prestwich in the County of Lancaster , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The family seat of the barons was Berrington Hall near Leominster and is now Castle Grounds near Ashton, both in Herefordshire .

Award

The title was created on January 16, 1918 for the liberal politician and Chancellor of the Duchy of Lancaster Sir Frederick Cawley, 1st Baronet . He had already been raised to Baronet , of Prestwich in the County of Lancaster, on December 1, 1906 in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom .

Today's title holder has been his great-grandson John Cawley, 4th Baron Cawley , since 2001 .
