The Habichtswald nature reserve is located in the area of the city of Tecklenburg in the Steinfurt district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Consisting of four partial surfaces area extends northeast of the core city Tecklenburg directly on the running on the northeastern edge country road L 597. The A 1 cuts through the field. The L 589 runs east, the L 594 south. The state border with Lower Saxony runs to the east .

A 406.92 hectare area has been designated as a nature reserve for Tecklenburg since 2004 under the identification number ST-092.
