Baron Harlech

Baron Harlech , of Harlech in the County of Merioneth , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The family residence of the barons was formerly Brogyntyn Hall near Oswestry in Shropshire and is now Glyn Cywarch in Gwynedd , Wales .

Award

The title was created on January 14, 1876 for the Conservative House of Commons John Ormsby-Gore . Since he had no sons, the award was made with the special addition that the title, in the absence of male descendants of his own, could also be passed on to his younger brother, the MP William Ormsby-Gore , and his male descendants.

Today's title holder is his descendant Jasset Ormsby-Gore as the 7th Baron.
