GDR wrestling championships 1985
The GDR wrestling championships were held for the 37th time in 1985 and took place in both styles ( Greco-Roman and freestyle ) in Leipzig Exhibition Center 7. The championships also served as a dress rehearsal for the European wrestling championships taking place at the same location in April .
With Uwe Neupert , only one athlete received championship honors in both disciplines.
In the Greco-Roman style, Andreas Klektiven , Rüdiger Wachs and Uwe Witthuhn managed to defend their titles from the previous year and Torsten Schlonske was one weight class higher.
In freestyle, Mike Jesse , Lutz Remus , Torsten Wagner and Andreas Schröder defended their title from the previous year and Eberhard Probst was one weight class higher.
