Eberhard Probst

Eberhard Probst (born June 4, 1955 in Querfurt ) is a former German wrestler and referee .

Career

Eberhard Probst grew up in Querfurt and began wrestling at BSG Aufbau Merseburg in 1966 . Even as a teenager he was very successful and was GDR champion (Spartakiadeieger) in all youth and junior classes. At that time he attended the children's and youth sports school in Halle . In 1974 he took second place at the European Junior Championships in lightweight in free style , meanwhile switched to SC Chemie Halle . From 1975 he started with many successes at many international championships and won five medals. In 1984 he finished his international career as a wrestler and started an equally successful career as an international referee. He led the most difficult fights at countless championships, including finals at the Olympic Games. His achievements were always highlighted. Eberhard Probst is still very concerned about the German referee system and belongs to the committee for referees in the German Wrestling Association.

After the political change, Eberhard Probst wrestled for another season at RWG Mömbris / Königshofen and also took part in many "Masters" tournaments, where he even became world champion in 1999.
