Erhard Pocher
Erhard Pocher (* 1954 ) is a former German wrestler .
Career
Erhard Pocher was discovered with his brothers Andreas and Alfred in 1967 at the ZLSG (Central Land Sports Association) Wormstedt in 1967 for wrestling. He soon moved to Apolda and, after his talent for this sport was confirmed, to Motor Jena .
As a 20-year-old athlete, Erhard Pocher was among the top three winners at the GDR Senior Championships in 1974 for the first time. A total of four times over the next few years he succeeded in gaining the GDR championship title in free style in feather or light weight . He won the GDR lightweight championship in 1982 and there he defeated the world class athlete Eberhard Probst .
Erhard Pocher also got the chance to prove himself at international championships from the GDR wrestling association from 1979 to 1981. But he did not succeed in winning medals. His best result was 6th place in featherweight at the 1979 European championship in Bucharest in featherweight. He achieved a remarkable victory in 1979 at the Werner Seelenbinder Tournament in Leipzig , where he won ahead of the American Daryl Burley and the Hungarian Zoltan Szalontai .
After the German reunification, Erhard Pocher was a member of the team of the re-established strength sports club Deutsche Eiche Apolda for many years. Between 1995 and 2006 he won the title of world champion six times at the "Masters" championships.
