Volker Anger

Volker Anger (born May 2, 1968 in East Berlin ) is a German wrestler . For the German Democratic Republic he took part in the Olympic Games in 1988 and competed for SG Dynamo Luckenwalde during the GDR era . After reunification, he won the German wrestling championship once.

Career

As a 16-year-old he took part in the GDR wrestling championships in 1985 in Leipzig . He finished third behind his team- mates Uwe Jesse and Andreas Buchhorn from SC Leipzig . He took part in the European Wrestling Championships in Manchester in 1988 and reached the semi-finals there. There he was defeated and also had to admit defeat to the Bulgarian Marian Nedkow in the battle for third place .

He was nominated for the 1988 Olympic Games in Seoul by the National Olympic Committee of the GDR . He competed in light flyweight and took seventh place. After reunification , he joined the 1993 German Wrestling Championships , which took place in Berlin , in the flyweight division and reached the final. In the final he defeated Stanislas Kaczmarek and won his only German championship title in wrestling.
