GDR wrestling championships 1983
The GDR wrestling championships were held for the 35th time in 1983 and took place in Greco-Roman style in Frankfurt (Oder) and freestyle in Luckenwalde .
With Andreas Schröder , only one athlete received championship honors in both disciplines.
Uwe Jesse , Günter Reichelt , Ralf Müller and Thomas Horschel managed to defend their titles from the previous year in the Greco-Roman style . For Günter Reichelt it was the fifth title in a row.
Eberhard Probst , Michael Kleinschmidt , Uwe Neupert , Roland Gehrke and Andreas Schröder defended their title from the previous year in freestyle . Kleinschmidt and Gehrke won their third title in a row and for Neupert it was already the seventh.
