Baron Hume of Berwick was a hereditary British title of nobility , which was awarded once in the Peerage of England and in the Peerage of Great Britain .

Awards

The title was first created on July 7, 1604 in the Peerage of England for the Chancellor of the Exchequer George Home . This was also raised on July 3, 1605 in the Peerage of Scotland to Earl of Dunbar . Since he died on January 20, 1611 and left two daughters but no sons, both titles have been suspended.

In the second award, the title was recreated on May 20, 1776 in the Peerage of Great Britain for Alexander Hume-Campbell, Lord Polwarth . He was the son of the 3rd Earl of Marchmont and inherited the courtesy title of Lord Polwarth . He died childless and before his father on March 9, 1781, so that the barony became extinct.
