Baron Ironside

Baron Ironside , of Archangel and of Ironside in the County of Aberdeen , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

The Barons' family home is Priory House in Boxted, Essex .

Award

The title was created for Field Marshal Sir Edmund Ironside on January 29, 1941 . The territorial dedication of the title refers to his assignment as commander of the Allied Expeditionary Corps, which landed in Russian Arkhangelsk from September 1918 to intervene in the Russian civil war .

Today's title holder has been his son as 2nd Baron since 1959.
