Baron Monkswell
Baron Monkswell , of Monkswell in the County of Devon , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .
Award
The title was created on July 1, 1885 for the jurist and liberal politician Sir Robert Collier .
With the childless death of his grandson, the 3rd baron, on January 14, 1964, the title fell to his nephew as the 4th baron. He was a staunch communist and therefore gave up the title on April 7, 1964. Since his death on July 27, 1984, his son Gerard Collier has held the title as 5th Baron.
