Baron Muskerry
Baron Muskerry , of Muskerry in the County of Cork , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
The family seat of the barons is Springfield Castle near Newcastle West in County Limerick .
Award
The title was created on August 4, 1781 for former MPs in the Irish House of Commons Sir Robert Deane, 6th Baronet . As early as 1770 he had inherited the subordinate title of Baronet , of Muskerry in the County of Cork, which had been awarded to his ancestor Matthew Deane (around 1626-1711) on March 10, 1710 in the Baronetage of Ireland.
Today's title holder has been his great-great-great-grandson Robert Deane as the 9th Baron since 1988 .
