Baron Oranmore and Browne
Baron Oranmore and Browne , of Carrabrowne Castle in the County of Galway and of Castle Macgarrett in the County of Mayo , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of Ireland .
The family seat of the barons was temporarily Mereworth Castle in Kent , England .
Award
The title was created for Dominick Browne on May 4, 1836 . He had previously represented County Mayo in the House of Commons for many years .
Another title
The third baron received the title of Baron Mereworth , of Mereworth Castle in the County of Kent, in the Peerage of the United Kingdom on January 19, 1926 . This gave him, unlike the Irish title, an automatic seat in the House of Lords until the House of Lords Act 1999 .
