Baron Shuttleworth

Baron Shuttleworth , of Gawthorpe in the County Palatine of Lancaster , is a hereditary British title in the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Today the barons' family residence is Leck Hall near Carnforth in Lancashire .

Award

The title was created on July 15, 1902 for the Liberal House of Commons Sir Ughtred Kay-Shuttleworth, 2nd Baronet . He had already in 1877 from his father James Kay-Shuttleworth (1804-1877) inherited the subordinate title of Baronet , of Gawthorpe in the County Palatine of Lancaster, which had been awarded to this on December 22, 1849 in the Baronetage of the United Kingdom .

Today's title holder has been his great-grandson Charles Kay-Shuttleworth as 5th Baron since 1975 .
