The ensemble LUX: NM is a special ensemble for new music .

It was founded in 2010 in Berlin by saxophonist Ruth Velten and accordionist Silke Lange . The ensemble includes several permanent soloists as well as a number of changing guest musicians. The regular line-up consists of saxophone, accordion, trombone, piano, violoncello and electronics. LUX: NM appears as an undirected ensemble. The field of work includes a. Chamber music concerts, performances, installations and musical theater.

  • In 2017, the debut album LUXUS (GEN 16443) was awarded by the German Record Critics' Prize on the best list 1/2017 in the contemporary music category. Marita Emigholz for the jury: “'We allow ourselves luxury', so it says in the booklet of this remarkable CD, which proudly presents five first recordings of newly composed works. The ensemble LUX: NM, based in Berlin, which has existed since 2010, relies on intensive collaboration with musicians and composers and proves with its debut album that the close interplay of composition and interpretation can bear wonderful fruits. Four of these five consistently significant pieces were created especially for this project, they all benefit from the playful competence of the ensemble: pure luxury! "
