From 2010 to 2014 he was the cellist of the Asasello Quartet in Cologne and also since 2010 the cellist of the LUX: NM ensemble .
Zamastil died of cancer . He left a wife and two children.
music
Zamastil's music ranges from contemporary chamber music , tango and film music to music for children and pop music .
“The saxophonist's relentless pounding pedal, which is soon to set in, is actually a stoic sound element and becomes a guide through the color-filled, crunching, always interesting and exciting narrative“ archive ”of Zamastils, which makes it all the more likeable for the listener, with his long, but not to follow a boring gait, but forcing him to listen lovingly through his really intelligent handling of sonic trash. "
“A latent irony runs through the entire CD with its 10 songs (eight by Zamastil, 2 by Tröndle), individual musical components just miss the quote. This deliberate play with pop clichés is extremely clever and calls for a sequel. "

- Since 2006, Wolfgang Zamastil has been the musical partner of the New York choreographer Richard Siegal in his pieces "As if Stranger", "Homo Ludens", "If / Then for Strings" and the like. a.
- For the recording of the CD “aguacil”, a 68-minute experimental film was created in collaboration with Patrick Müller from animated photo material, which is always reassembled in concerts parallel to the music live by a VJ according to the score .
- From 2006 to 2009 he was an active member of the music theater collective bassgasse3 , which works on staged concerts and new concert forms.
