Jens Peter Maintz
Jens Peter Maintz (* 1967 in Hamburg ) is a German cellist .
Maintz studied with David Geringas and attended master classes with Heinrich Schiff , Boris Pergamenschikow and Siegfried Palm . In 1994 he won first prize at the ARD International Music Competition in Munich. From 1995 to 2004 he was the first solo cellist of the Deutsches Symphonie-Orchester Berlin , and since 2004 he has been Professor of Violoncello at the Berlin University of the Arts, succeeding Wolfgang Boettcher .
Maintz has been a member of the Trio Fontenay since 1998 and is now a member of the Kandinsky String Trio and the Berlin Soloist Octet . Since 2006 he has been principal cellist of the Lucerne Festival Orchestra.
Maintz plays a Vincenzo Ruggeri violoncello from 1696.
