Baron Trevor

Baron Trevor is a hereditary British title of nobility created three times, once each in the Peerage of Ireland , the Peerage of Great Britain and the Peerage of the United Kingdom .

Awards

For the first time the title Baron Trevor , of Rostrevor in the County of Down , was created on August 28, 1662 in the Peerage of Ireland for Marcus Trevor , together with the barony he was given the superordinate title Viscount Dungannon . Both titles expired with the death of the 3rd Viscount in 1706.

In the second bestowal, the title Baron Trevor , of Bromham, was newly created on January 1, 1712 in the Peerage of Great Britain for the jurist and politician Sir Thomas Trevor . His younger son and eventual heir as the 4th baron was elevated to Viscount Hampden in 1776 and the barony was henceforth a subordinate title. Both titles expired in 1824 with the death of the 3rd Viscount.

In the third bestowal , the title of Baron Trevor , of Brynkinalt in the County of Denbigh , was created on May 5, 1880 in the Peerage of the United Kingdom for the House of Commons Arthur Edwin Hill-Trevor . He was the third son of the 3rd Marquess of Downshire . Today's title holder is his great-grandson as the 5th baron. The family seat of the Third Barons is Brynkinallt near Chirk in Denbighshire .

The alleged title heir ( Heir Presumptive ) is the brother of the current title holder Iain Hill-Trevor (* 1971).
