The Barrandov Bridge ( Czech : Barrandovský most ) is a motorway bridge over the Vltava River in Prague in the Czech Republic . It was built between 1978 and 1988 and is 352 meters long. The southern lane was completed in 1983, the northern one could only be opened to traffic in 1988. The bridge connects the Prague districts of Braník (on the right side of the Vltava) and Hlubočepy (on the left of the Vltava), downstream of the Barrandov district . This district is named after the French geologist, paleontologist and engineer Joachim Barrande , who geologically researched the Prague Basin .

The Barrandov Bridge is the busiest motorway road in the Czech Republic. In 2017, an average of 142,000 cars drove over this bridge every day.

The bridge was built in the style of brutalism . The architect was Karel Filsak. The huge concrete sculptures are by Josef Klimeš .
