Winner of the Barry Award in the category of British Best crime novel ( Best British Crime Novel ), since 2000 the best in the previous year in the UK published work of an author of the crime novel or mystery distinguished genre of. The most successful in this category were Val McDermid from Scotland (2000 and 2004) and Stephen Booth from England (2001 and 2002), who each won the prize twice.
