biography

Stephen Booth was born in Burnley, but grew up in Blackpool and attended the Arnold School there . There he began his journalistic activities as part of the school newspaper and wrote his first short story at the age of twelve . He then studied at Birmingham City University to become a teacher, but ended this career after his first legal clerkship .

In 1974 he began his first journalistic activities for several local newspapers, specializing in particular in reports on rugby union games . This was followed by engagements with the Daily Express and the Guardian , with Booth increasingly concentrating on a freelance career. This turned out to be very diverse, from articles and photographs for specialist magazines to a short story broadcast on the radio by the BBC . After 1999 for the Prize Dundee Book was nominated and 5,000 pounds doped Lichfield Prize won, he signed a contract with publisher Harper Collins and published in 2000 with "Black Dog" his first work. From then on he devoted himself exclusively to fiction and ended his career as a freelance journalist in 2001.

Booth is moving the story of his previous works, which have so far been translated into 15 languages, to the Peak District in northern England. He is married and lives in Nottinghamshire . In addition to his work as a writer, he promotes reading and writing in Great Britain, for example as part of World Book Day , and attends a variety of festivals, fairs and conferences.
