In addition, the (presumed) date of birth and death of William Shakespeare , the days of death of Miguel de Cervantes and the Spanish-Catalan author Josep Pla and the birthday of the Icelandic Nobel laureate Halldór Laxness fall on this date; It should be noted, however, that Shakespeare and Cervantes died on the same date (April 23, 1616), but not on the same day. At that time, the Julian calendar was still used in England , while the Gregorian calendar was already in use in Spain . Thus Shakespeare died ten days later than Cervantes.
