Barry Briggs
Barry Briggs (born December 30, 1934 in Christchurch , New Zealand ) is a former British- New Zealand speedway driver . He was one of the dominant speedway drivers of the 50s and 60s. From 1954 to 1972 he took part in the finals of the individual world championship in speedway 18 times . He won four titles.
In 1976 he ended his career. In the same year he was named the Order of the British Empire for his athletic achievements . In 1990 he was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame of New Zealand.
