Barry Everitt

Barry J. Everitt is a British biopsychologist , university professor and Masters from Downing College at Cambridge University .

Career

Everitt studied zoology and psychology at the University of Hull and received his PhD from the University of Birmingham . After completing his doctorate, he conducted research at the Karolinska Institute in Stockholm . In 1974 he went to Cambridge University, where he became Professor of Medicine at Downing College in 1976 .

Everitt was Editor-in-Chief of the European Journal of Neuroscience and a member of the Scientific Commission of Science . He is a member of the Royal Society , which selected him as Croonian Lecturer in 2021. In 2014 he was elected to the EMBO . He has been President of the Society for Neuroscience since 2019, making him the first scientist in this position not from North America.
