Barry Gifford
Barry Gifford (born October 18, 1946 in Chicago ) is an American writer and screenwriter. He gained fame primarily through his series of novels Sailor and Lula . The first part was filmed in 1990 under the title Wild at Heart - The Story of Sailor and Lula by David Lynch . The film Perdita Durango is also based on this series of novels.
Life
Gifford was born in Chicago to a Jew and an Irish Catholic. After college, he went to the Air Force Reserves . Gifford embarked on a career in writing after flirting with a career in baseball for some time.
Numerous novels, volumes of poetry and short stories as well as non-fiction and screenplays followed.
