Bartholomew († after 1254)

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Bartholomäus († after 1254) was a Pomeranian nobleman. As a member of a branch line, the Swantiboriden , he was related to the Greifenhaus ruling in the Duchy of Pomerania .

Bartholomäus was the only known son of Wartislaw († 1233), who was probably the castellan of Stettin . Bartholomäus' great-grandfather was Wartislaw Swantiboricz , the founder of the Kolbatz Monastery .

Bartholomew appears in Pomeranian documents from the years 1235 to 1254. The first mention comes from a document from 1235, with which Duke Barnim I took the Kolbatz Monastery under his protection and confirmed his ownership. Bartholomäus is at the head of the row of witnesses, as well as in another confirmation of ownership of Duke Barnim I for the Kolbatz monastery from 1240. In a document from 1249, with which Duke Barnim I took land from the Kolbatz monastery to live there to found the city of Altdamm , Bartholomäus is again at the head of the row of witnesses and is expressly referred to by the Duke as his blood relative (cognatus noster).

Descendants of Bartholomew are not known.
