Bashneft ( Russian Башнефть ) is a Russian mineral oil company with headquarters in Ufa in the Russian republic of Bashkortostan . Bashneft is listed in the RTS index on the Moscow Stock Exchange . It was created through a merger of petroleum companies that had been privatized by the regional authorities.

Bashneft is one of the most important Russian mineral oil and natural gas producers . The company owns three refineries ( Ufaneftechim , UNPS and Nowoil ) and operates a network of petrol stations.

history

From 2009 on

In 2009 Bashneft was sold to the Sistema investor group, which was under the control of Vladimir Evtushenkov .

However, the group was nationalized again. Yevtushenkov was placed under house arrest and the shares were blocked on the stock exchange in autumn 2014. The shares were returned to the state. A Russian business association had described house arrest as politically motivated. Since August 2013, in the run-up to these proceedings, the highest commercial court was merged with the highest ordinary court and thus de facto subordinated. For analysts, this "weakened the more reliable pillar of the Russian judiciary".

At the end of October 2014, a Moscow commercial court ordered the issuance of the shares in the first instance. The privatization by the regional authorities was against the interests of the central state. In November, the majority shareholder Sistema announced that it would not appeal against this expropriation, although the trial appeared to be "constructed". The shares returned to the state were to be privatized again.

Sale to Rosneft

In October 2016, Bashneft was instead sold to the state-controlled Rosneft group. The government decree of October 6, 2016 authorized Rosneft to purchase and use 330 billion rubles to obtain a 50.1 percent majority of the shares. 25 percent are held by Bashkortostan.

An international arrest warrant was issued against the former director general Ural Rakhimov in 2014 , but Austria refused to arrest him because it suspected political motives. On the other hand, the Russian Minister of Economic Affairs, Alexei Ulyukayev , who had wanted real privatization, was arrested.

Rosneft is also suing Sistema for "loss of value" in connection with partial sales from the years 2009 and 2014, that is, processes that have long been known to the public during the purchase by Rosneft. The stock market value even increased due to the restructuring and increased efficiency. Actually unusual, after the filing of this lawsuit in May 2017, the court had as a precaution blocked assets of Sistema, according to its own statements 4.2 billion dollars and thus almost half more than the (excessive) value in dispute of a maximum of 250 billion rubles considered it to be constructed Procedure.

In the first half of 2016, Bashneft produced 425,000 barrels of crude oil per day and made a profit of 452 million dollars.

Sponsorship

From February 2010 Bashneft was the main and jersey sponsor of the CSKA Moscow football club . This cooperation was contractually agreed for 3 years.
