The 2008 Women's Baseball World Cup was the third edition of this women's baseball competition and took place in Matsuyama from August 24-29 , 2008 . The game was played in the "Botchan Stadium" ( Matsuyama Chūō Kōen Yakyūjō ) and in the "Madonna Stadium", the associated second stadium. A total of eight teams took part in the tournament.

The opening ceremony took place on August 25, 2008 at 6:30 pm in the Botchan Stadium.

The team from Japan won the title for the first time .

Intermediate round

The two best teams in the intermediate round group C qualify for the final, the other two teams play for bronze. The results against the teams from the preliminary round groups are carried over to the intermediate round. In the event of a tie, the direct encounter decides.

The four other teams play to get into the game for 5th place. The mode provides that the third in group A plays against the fourth in group B, and the third in group B against the fourth in group A. The winners of these games then play for 5th place, the losers for 7th place.
