Basile grass
Basile Gras (* 1836 in St. Amans de Pellaga , † April 15, 1901 in Auxerre ) was a French general .
Gras became a lieutenant in 1858 and rose to Général de division and governor of Lyon until 1894 . He was a professor at the shooting school in Chalons and developed a rifle there.
Gras constructed an infantry rifle in 1874, known as the Gras Model 1874, which was introduced into the French Army and used until the multi-loader was taken over in 1886. The Greek army used the single grass loader until the beginning of the 20th century.
