Basin Street

Basin Street is the name of a street in New Orleans , Louisiana, which runs parallel to Rampart Street on the border of the French Quarter (English French Quarter, French Vieux Carré). It leads from Canal Street past the cemetery (Saint Louis Cemetery) to Orleans Avenue.

Basin Street is remembered in " Basin Street Blues ", written and published by Spencer Williams in 1926 , which was best known for a recording by Louis Armstrong and from which a large number of recordings (including Miles Davis on the album Seven Steps To Heaven).
