Bass guitar

As a bass guitar which originated in the mid-19th century, was originally counterpoint guitar called a form of guitar (both acoustic and electric ), which in addition to the six handle strings five to twelve bass strings on a second, bunch free fretboard.

Acoustic bass guitars are mainly used in folk music to accompany vocals and to accompany other melody instruments.

The bass guitar is one of the transposing instruments because its sound is an octave lower than it is notated in the musical notation.

Electric bass guitar

A purely electric bass guitar often has the shape of a violin with a smaller body and four strings that are tuned exactly one octave lower than the (primary) guitar .

Acoustic bass guitar

A purely acoustic bass guitar (see second picture) has the shape of a primary guitar with a larger body and six strings that are tuned exactly one octave lower than the primary guitar.

Viola baixo

The viola baixo ( port. ) Is the bass guitar especially in Portuguese fado . It has a four chörigen metal strings -Bezug and plays the rhythm of the presented song on the bass tones with. The viola baixo is not obligatory in Fado (i.e. not mandatory), but is increasingly used here.

Also in the Tunas , the traditional Portuguese Instrumental - ensembles that will viola baixo used.
