The von Bastheim were a Franconian noble family based in Bastheim , where it had built a moated castle. It owned goods in the Vorderen Rhön , in the territory of the Fulda Abbey and the grave field , on whose development it had some influence.

There were proven representatives of this family from 1180 to 1848. 1355 conquered the feuding with the noble Bishop Albrecht II. Of Wurzburg Bastheim, but it gave Otto von Basthem, Siegfried of stone and Gobel Steward of Bastheim again as a fief after this apology had done. After the family died out in the 19th century, Bastheim farmers bought the goods in Bastheim, which gave the village an economic boom.
