Batida de Côco
Batida de Côco [ bɐ'tiðɐ də 'koku ] ( Portuguese for "mixed drink made from coconut") is a Brazilian cocktail made from coconut milk , sugar and cachaça (sugar cane schnapps). The name comes from the Brazilian Portuguese: bater = to beat.
Coconut milk is obtained by grating the fresh pulp contained in the nut and then mixing it with the coconut water that is also present in the fruit . The liquid that is left over when you squeeze this “coconut mash” is filled with sweetened condensed milk and cachaça at “Batida de Côco” . In Brazil there are batidas made from many different fruits such as lemons, oranges, passion fruit etc.
In Germany, since 1978, a corresponding, industrially produced liqueur from the cachaça manufacturer Mangaroca has been available under the brand name Mangaroca Batida de Côco with 16 percent alcohol content. It is sold by Henkell & Co. Sektkellerei . In contrast to the similar Malibu liqueur, Batida de Côco is usually drunk pure.
The song, which is used internationally in television advertising for the liqueur, is called Dança a Bossa (Batida de Côco Mix) and is originally by K&K featuring Jota. The composers and producers are Ramon Kramer and Volker Kretschmer.
Batida de Côco is also a song by the Greek artist Arleta .
