Ramon Kramer
Ramon Kramer (* 1964 in Hamburg ) is a German film composer , filmmaker , book author and music producer .
Life
At the age of 15 Ramon Kramer made his first appearances as a guitarist and singer in northern German folk clubs and at festivals such as “ Rock gegen Rechts ”. He fulfilled his first assignment as a composer in 1981 for the ARD youth program "Kernbeisser", in which he also appeared as a singer. In 1984 Kramer took part as a student in the “popular music model experiment” (today “ pop course ”) at the Hamburg University of Music and Theater , where he later also worked as a guest lecturer. After completing the course (guitar, piano, singing, text, performance) he played concerts as a singer / songwriter nationwide and worked with artists such as Hans Hartz , Bernward Büker and Rio Reiser .
In 1991, Kramer and Volker Kretschmer founded the music production “K + K Musik” (renamed “kramerkretschmer music production network” in 2010), with which he still produces and composes numerous commissioned music for commercials, for example for the famous Mercedes “slap” -Benz, which received the “Gold” and “Grand Prix” awards from the Art Directors Club , or the classic “Dança a Bossa” for Batida de Coco .
In addition to his activities as a music producer, Ramon Kramer traveled regularly to the USA and visited the land of the Blackfeet several times in Montana . In several sessions with Indian musicians he learned to play the Indian flute ( Native American Flute ) on the reservation and later received the Blackfeet name Ah-Say-Kee (Good Whistler) in a ceremony.
With the support of Blackfeet tribesmen, Kramer produced and composed the concept album "The Return of the Buffalo Horses", which was released in 2001 in the USA on a label run by Indians (Sound of America Records). Shortly afterwards, it was put on the Grammy Entry List by the National Academy of Recording Arts and Sciences , Los Angeles in the category “Best Native American Music Album”, which is actually reserved exclusively for Indian music producers .
In 2001, Kramer accompanied the DEFA Indian actor and Winnetou star of the Bad Segeberg Karl May games, Gojko Mitić , on his first trip to the land of the "real Indians" on behalf of WDR television (people up close) . The resulting documentary “Der Berufsindianer - Gojko Mitić on the Prairie” (director, script and music: Ramon Kramer) was shown several times on television and was very positively discussed by the press: “And it always feels as if it breaks at the moment of experience prefabricated picture in the head on all sides. The film succeeds excellently in staging the path into the vastness as a self-search, mile by mile - and picture by picture. "
Kramer's second film work “At the foot of the Rocky Mountains - A medicine man on a buffalo hunt” premiered at the Hamburg Film Festival in 2006 and, when it was first broadcast on NDR (September 11, 2008, 8:15 pm) with a million viewers, it achieved one for the “ Lands - People - Adventure “exceptionally high rate. Kramer was able to win multiple award-winning cameraman Holly Fink for both films .
In September 2008, the book "Ich Weißer Mann, Du Indianer gut!" Was published by Rowohlt Verlag, in which Ramon Kramer self-ironically tells of his adventures on the prairie. He gave numerous readings, to which he also contributed live music, and has appeared on several television programs. The book is Kramer's last "Indian project" for the time being.
Under the name of "Ramon Kramer Music Network", he now composes and produces mainly commissioned music for advertising and television films. In addition, he also works as a music publisher and musical consultant for television editors, directors and film productions. In 2010, Kramer and several film composers founded the library "RKM Archivmusik", which provides license-free music for television productions. Ramon Kramer lives and works in Hamburg-St.Pauli.

Quote
“[...] and with all the lightness that his book exudes, he is concerned with a serious core. 'For many people, the Indians have become a projection screen for their own longings,' says Kramer. The great myths of spiritualism and alcoholism had less to do with the lives of Indian peoples than with our feelings of lost originality. 'This New Age clutter,' says Kramer, 'is an invention of whites. And in St. Pauli I see drunk people more often than in the reservation. '"
