The Alte Schlaube ( Lower Sorbian Žłobja or Stara Žłobja ) is a river in the east of Brandenburg . It delimits the former district of Krebsjauche , today Wiesenau .

In the past, the name was also on Slube (1433), as today's Schlaube and Alte Schlaube belonged together until the Friedrich Wilhelm Canal was built (1668). This can be seen on the original plans of the Friedrich Wilhelm Canal. This can easily lead to errors as to which river is meant.

The Alte Schlaube has its source near the Katharinengraben in Müllrose . From there it goes through Kaisermühl to the Groß Lindow district of Schlaubehammer , where the Alte Schlaube crosses the Oder-Spree Canal . The Alte Schlaube flows into the Friedrich Wilhelm Canal near the Hammerfort residential area (between the districts of Schlaubehammer and Weißenspring ). The locks in Hammerfort and Weißenspring have separate barrages to pass through the Alte Schlaube .

In the Lindow district of Klixmühle , Friedrich-Wilhelm-Kanal and Fließ finally separate again, from here it follows its original course, only a few 100 meters away from the canal, before the Alte Schlaube as a meadow river in the Brieskower Fischerkiez into the Brieskower Canal, shortly before its transition into the Brieskower See , empties.

Others

A very narrow river, flat, with weeds in places, in parts traversed by tree trunks and low bridges. Partly flowing through pipe passages.

The section between Müllrose and Hammerfort has the water code 67722 and is 4047 m long. The section between Klixmühle and Brieskow is officially called Brieskower Alte Schlaube today, has the water code 67726 and a length of 5036 m. In the remaining section between Hammerfort and Klixmühle, the Alte Schlaube merges into today's Brieskower Canal (water code 6772).
