The Schlaube ( Žłobja in Lower Sorbian ) is a river in the east of Brandenburg , flows through the Schlauberinne and forms a river shaped by the lake outflow . The Schlaube was first mentioned in documents as Slube in 1275 and 1336 . Further spellings can be found: 1370 Slûbe , 1471 Inn der Slawenn , 1516 schlube and 1570 auff der Schlaube or 1751 die Schlubbe . The basic form of the name probably comes from the Old Sorbian Slubníca .

Until the Friedrich Wilhelm Canal (1682–1688) was built, the Schlaube flowed into what is now Brieskower See in Brieskow-Finkenheerd . Since then the Schlaube has flowed into the Kleiner Müllroser See , with drainage over the Oder-Spree Canal. The remaining section between Müllrose and Brieskow-Finkenheerd no longer has a direct connection to the Schlaube and is known as the Alte Schlaube .

Emergence

The Schlaubetal emerged from a meltwater channel under the inland ice about 21,000 years ago in the Vistula Ice Age . Numerous blocks of dead ice that remained in the channel, when they melted out at the end of the Ice Age, led to the formation of the chain of lakes that characterize today's Schlaubetal.

course

Großer Müllroser See circular route

In the Wirchenberge, south of the Wirchenberge, two sources have small rivulets that unite in the Wirchenwiesen. As Schlaube the flow overcomes a length of 14 kilometers by steep part, to deep 30 meters canyons.

In its 27-kilometer run it flows through the Wirchensee , east of the Ziskensee past the Großer Treppelsee , the Hammersee , the Kleiner Schinkensee , the Großer Schinkensee , the Langesee , the Schulzenwasser , past the Belenzsee , to which there is a connection. Then the Schlaube reaches the Großer Müllroser See and finally ends in the Müllroser Kietz in the Kleiner Müllroser See .

Surroundings

Along the course of the river there are a few mills that are mainly used for tourism today . Almost the entire course of the river to Müllrose is a nature reserve and belongs to the Schlaubetal Nature Park, which was proclaimed in 1995 .
