The Große Müllroser See is a lake between Müllrose in the north and Mixdorf in the south in the Oder-Spree district in Brandenburg . It is located in the Schlaubetal Nature Park and is the largest lake in a series of lakes in this area.

In the south, near the Seeschlößchen residential area, the Schlaube flows into the lake. It flows through the Großer Müllroser See and connects to the Kleiner Müllroser See in the northwest, which is connected to the Oder-Spree Canal . On the eastern side of the lake there is a connection to the Mouschenzsee , this is located south of the Katharinensee . In the southern part of the lake there is a small island called Fischerwerdel , also popularly known as the island of love .

The lake is very popular with fishermen and anglers, there are stocks of eel , perch , bream , gustern , pike , carp , roach , tench , individual catfish and pikeperch . The soldiers of the former barracks of the group of the Soviet armed forces in Germany resulted in a stocking of grass carp , which can still be found. Apart from seasonal cloudiness, the lake has visibility depths of up to 2 m. Its depth is an average of 8 m, at individual points the echo sounder also measured 10 m and 12 m.

Fishing is permitted with fishing permits, and there is a boat rental in town.

Although it is partially located in the Lower Schlaubetal nature reserve at the mouth of the Schlaube , the lake can be used as a recreational area. There is one lido on the east and one on the west bank, both monitored by the DRK water rescue service, non-swimmer areas are separated. There are sufficient parking spaces, as well as sanitary facilities and dining facilities. The fine sandy beaches slope gently.

For sports and games, there is a water slide and diving platform on the west beach. On the east bank, on the other hand, there are extensive lawns with individual trees, restaurants and guest houses. A little to the south there is a campsite and the associated swimming facilities.

As a tradition, bathing takes place in the lake on New Year's Day .

The north bank with its extensive promenade is used for concerts in the summer with a floating stage. The magic of the lake and the fireworks display over the Großer Müllroser See are popular cultural events in the region.

Shipping to Müllrose with passenger ships and private boats is possible, navigating the lake with boats has a long tradition and so there is also a sailing club in Müllrose.

The hiking trail around the lake is about 9 km long, the protection regulations of the nature park must be observed.
