The Mouschenzsee is a small forest lake in the east of Müllrose in the Brandenburg Nature Park Schlaubetal .
The name is also spelled Muschenzsee , one also hears Muschelsee colloquially .
Possibly the name goes back to the Lower Sorbian word stem of mušnica or mušeṅc "mucha" = fly. The name Muschenzsee was found in 1758 and the name Muschentzer See in 1780, i.e. a lake where there were probably many flies and mosquitos .
The lake is shaped by the rush edge , which grows abundantly in the silting zone . The west and north banks are mostly swampy terrain and nutrient-poor bog . Parts of the shore are of dense alder - carr hemmed. In the water there are sunken trees and tree stumps near the shore, so the lake appears completely untouched.
There is a connecting ditch between Mouschenzsee and the Großer Müllroser See to the west , over which a small bridge for hikers leads. The water flows off in the direction of the Großer Müllroser See.

Anglers can reach the lake by car and a parking lot has been created. The fishing is permitted under special consideration of the protection provisions of the nature park Schlaubetal. Fishing permits can also be purchased, night fishing is also permitted, as are non-motorized inflatables .
The lake has stocks of eel , perch , bream , pike , carp , roach , tench , catfish and pikeperch . There are fish in capital size.
