Name interpretation

The first mention of Mockro in the register of the diocese of Meissen , Sedes Beeskow was in 1346. Groß Muckraw (1551), also in the Mokaṙ mentioned in 1731, the name refers to the Old Sorbian mokry = wet, humid , probably because the place was laid out in a damp area has been.

church

The first church is said to have been in place as early as 1300, but 100 years later it was destroyed in a fire. The new church was built as a stone building in the Gothic period at the beginning of the 15th century. In 1679 it was given a gallery , which was expanded in 1853, and a barrel ceiling. The tower was rebuilt in 1767, and the old bell rang in it from 1640 to 1916. Then it was handed in for material extraction during the First World War, as were the organ's prospect pipes . A steel bell replaced the missing bell from 1923, the pipes were replaced with zinc pipes . The wooden pulpit altar dates from around 1780. In 1936 the tower was covered with wooden shingles, and in 1952 the interior was renovated. The church was completely renovated between 1986 and 1989.

The organ is said to have been purchased in 1820 with funds from a soldier from the Napoleonic Wars of Liberation and, since it did not fit, it was rebuilt. Presumably it was built before 1800, the peculiarities of its construction suggest chamber music sound concepts. The organ builder Johann George Gast from Bahro is therefore an obvious choice as the builder of the instrument.

It is equipped with a mechanical sliding drawer.

Manual CD-c '' ', Gemshorn 8', Gedackt 8 ', Flute 8', Principal 4 ', Kleingedackt 4', fifth 3 ', octave 2', pointed flute 1 ', fifth 1½', mixture 3-fold, 2 Zimbelsterne , check valve

The organ was restored several times, from 1984 to 1990 by the Potsdam organ builder Hans-Bertram Scheffler and Markus Roth from Goyatz . The latter completed the restoration in 1996. The organ is one of the most historically important in the Oder-Spree district and is fully playable.

The church is on the list of listed buildings .

Natural monument

There is a mulberry tree planted in 1750 by the church . The promotion of silkworm breeding was very important to Friedrich II . There were state price guarantees and free distribution of the tree seed and the silk moth eggs , financial start-up aid and bonuses. In the villages mostly pastors and teachers took over the care, as they were qualified for it. They passed on their knowledge to other interested community members. However, the expense was considerable in relation to the profit, so that with the death of the king, silk production collapsed despite the subsidies . Only a few trees have survived from this time, so it is under nature protection . There is a "nature protection owl" on the tree.
