The Ziskensee is a small, isolated forest lake between the Großer Treppelsee in the north and the Wirchensee in the south. The lake is surrounded by wet meadows and small bodies of water. The Schlaube flows east of the lake, on it is the location of the Kieselwitzer Mühle with its fish rearing.

In 1665 there is the spelling Zisten See , Lower Sorbian cysty means pure or clear.

Others

A nature trail leads around the Schlaube, from the Wirchensee to the Ziskensee, there are information boards on the path for interested hikers.

The small waters on Ziskensee and the lake itself asking open Moorweiher of silting bog represents. North of the lake is an open moorland. Especially south of the lake in the Kesselwiesen there are numerous ditches and rivers that are connected to the Schlaube. Fever clover , swamp blood-eye , swamp calla , swamp porst and cranberries bloom here . To the west, the terrain rises significantly by around 30 m.

Swimming in the Schlaubetal Nature Park is only possible at very few lakes; there is a designated area on the east bank of the Ziskensee. Fishing is only allowed on the east and north-west banks at the marked fishing spots.

Hunting guests will find a hunting lodge at the lake, which can be rented. In the area live red , mouflon , roe deer and wild boar . Trail riders will find a resting place here when they are out with the forester .
