Battery is a Danish thrash metal band from Aarhus and Haderslev that was founded in 2008.

history

The band was formed in February 2008 by guitarist and singer Chris Stie aka Chris Steel, drummer Andreas Joen and guitarist Dennis Wallström, shortly after their previous band, Abattoir, split up. In the same year a first demo was recorded, of which 15 copies were made and distributed to friends. Shortly thereafter, Wallström left the line-up, whereupon the band paused until the summer of 2009 when Jannick Nielsen joined as bassist. In the same year, a second demo was recorded with Born in a Beaker , which had an edition of 100 copies. The first gig followed in April 2010, together with Crematoria and Pagan Rites . The second gig followed in July, this time at the Metal Magic Festival , in which Michael “Atziluth” Huhle took part as a live guitarist. Then he was replaced by Jeppe Campradt, before he remained in the band as a permanent member from summer 2011. In the same year the EP Nuke was released via Deadbangers Productions , which was the last release on which the band acted as a trio. The EP Mental Pollution was released on the same label in 2012 . In 2014 the debut album Armed with Rage was released via Punishment 18 Records . Two years later the second album followed with Martial Law , also via Punishment 18 Records.

style

Joxe Schaefer from crossfire-metal.de wrote in his review of Armed with Rage that you can hear Thrash Metal, the speed of which is almost always high. The song Narcotic Mirage begins with "echoing screams and squeaking guitars". The singing is roared, but it lacks sharpness, although the music sounds aggressive. In Halo of Hypocrisy , the solo contained therein is particularly characteristic. In terms of text, topics such as zombies, genocide or the Fukushima nuclear disaster are dealt with . Deadrhetoric.com's Matt Coe found that Martial Law contained basic Thrash Metal that was fast-paced, riff-heavy, and manic-sounding vocals that contained screams and growls . The song Kukulkan has a bass playing that is reminiscent of Overkill , while the background vocals sound like Vio-lence from the late 1980s. 2083 is more catchy and uses hooklines and sometimes only moves in the medium speed range, while the instrumental Forced Retaliation processes influences from punk and death metal , with the bass having a progressive character.
