Battling Levinsky
Battling Levinsky (born June 10, 1891 in Philadelphia , Pennsylvania , USA as Barney Lebrowitz , † February 12, 1949 ) was an American boxer of Jewish origin.
The left wingman made his professional debut in 1910 against Matt Ryan with a knockout win in round 1. In his second fight he reached only one draw over six rounds.
In October 1916 he became world light heavyweight champion . He was able to defend this belt several times and only lost it on October 12, 1920 to the Frenchman Georges Carpentier .
