Bauer Postal Network

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Bauer Postal Network is a national, private postal company of the Bauer Media Group .

history

The postal company Bauer Postal Network (BPN) emerged in April 2009 from a delivery company for its own magazines and has also been working for external clients since 1999.

structure

There are 29 master sales outlets across Germany that pick the consignments for the delivery districts and look after the 600 sales outlets. The sales outlets look after the 35,000 deliverers across Germany and ensure that the goods are transported to the couriers. Master distributors and distributors are legally independent. Delivery in the 45,000 districts, through which 80 percent of households can be reached, takes place on Wednesdays and Fridays.

broadcasts

In addition to the publisher's own magazines, the BPN also delivers magazines and addressed advertising mail for various clients. Over 140 million items are distributed every year. The company advertises postage savings of up to 20 percent compared to Deutsche Post .

criticism

The BPN and its independent sales outlets are accused of primarily employing young delivery people, as they are not entitled to the minimum wage . On the delivery staff recruitment website , the job is advertised as "perfect [...] for students aged 13 to 17". According to BPN boss Stephan Hiller, between 2015 and mid-2017 over 13,000 messengers were recruited in the "minimum wage-exempt age". The deliverers are paid for each consignment delivered.
