House on the Großkopf farm

The Großkopf farm ( listen ? / I ) on the Alt-Reinickendorf 37 property is a monument in Berlin-Reinickendorf . Audio file / audio sample

The farm was owned by the family from 1688 to 1984. Originally it was laid out as a four-sided courtyard , but in the second half of the 19th century it was completely redesigned so that it is preserved as a three-sided courtyard today. The property was divided in 1968, so that today the former barn borders the property on the south side.

The farm's house was built in 1874 according to plans by W. Helmsdorff, followed by expansion and redesign by Carl Sott in 1887 . The facade facing the street was provided with late classical decorative elements made of plaster and stucco , the courtyard side remained without this decoration. The fencing of the front garden is a low and filigree grating, from which an image of the street area towards the end of the 19th century can be derived: The fencing should not be a barrier with a protective function, but only a demarcation from the street.

At the same time as the house, the stable of the courtyard was built in 1874 based on a design by Carl Sott. The eastern property line runs along this building. The stable is a solid construction with a ground floor and a jamb floor under a pent roof . The jamb floor was raised in 1891.

The barn was built in 1896 by the Reinickendorfer building contractor Wilhelm Dermitzel. The red brick building replaced a smaller half-timbered barn . The building has a jamb floor, a gable roof and rectangular through gates. It shows the ornament typical of village farm buildings : the iron beam anchors are designed as rosettes , the arched windows are provided with blind arches and the gable cornice is stepped on.
