Tree you four
The Baume du Four ("Ofenbalm" ) cave (also known as Abri ) is located near Lake Neuchâtel between the towns of Boudry and Noiraigue , in the Areuse gorge in Switzerland .
The space, which has been entered from the Neolithic Age , is only 59 m wide and 12 m deep. G. Bellenot excavated the cave between 1917 and 1919. The finds exhibited in the Laténium attest to three cultural phases:
- the Cortaillod culture ( Neolithic ), around 3800 BC Chr.
- the middle Bronze Age , around 1400 BC Chr.
- the younger Iron Age , 1st century BC BC ( La Tène III = La Tène D )
The entrance to the Val de Travers is known as the “Trou de Bourgogne” (Burgundy Hole) because the Areuse valley connects the Swiss plateau with the Franche-Comté . The Baume du Four is on the list of cultural assets in Boudry in the canton of Neuchâtel .
