Construction site production principle

The construction site production (also production according to the space principle ) is a process principle in which the workers and means of production are brought to the place of the fixed work item , the construction site . It is therefore a location-based work system . The resources required are not tied to a specific location, but are transported to the place where the service is provided in accordance with the work processes. The main difficulties in construction site production lie in the planning and disposition of these resources.

This manufacturing principle is usually applied where work items are difficult to move, for example. In plant construction, bridges, buildings or generally in buildings .

In construction site production, detailed planning of the construction site equipment , precise planning of the transport chain and detailed planning of the technological sequence of production are required. Planning errors can have serious effects on the project result.

Further risks in construction site production are the quality on site, the complicated logistics and the sometimes necessary parallel processing of several sub-steps. For this reason, project controlling is of essential importance.
