The Bawden Ice Rise is a 15 km long and 4 km wide ice dome on the edge of the Larsen Ice Shelf off the Foyn coast of Graham Land on the Antarctic Peninsula . It rises 75 km east-southeast of Cape Alexander .
The British Antarctic Survey mapped the ice dome, which may consist of multiple domes, from ground penetrating radar measurements taken during a flyover in February 1975 . The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1985 after John Bawden (* 1931), who worked for the British Antarctic Survey from 1971 and was its treasurer from 1973 to 1978 .
