Bayard rocks
The Bayardfelsen (fr. Rocher Bayard ) is a striking rock formation in Dinant on the right bank of the Meuse .
French pioneers from the invading army of Louis XIV blasted a passage in the rock to clear the way for a road along the right bank of the Meuse. In this way the monolithic character of the Bayardfels was created. A legend of the miracle horse Bayard is entwined around the rock . It is one of the sights of Dinant.

At the Bayardfelsen the geological Devonian - Carboniferous border is exposed.
Legend
The rock is named after Bayard, the magical horse of St. Reinoldus . The forecast for a hoof of the horse hit the rock formation, as it is with the Haimonskindern on the run from Charlemagne was. The power of the wondrous horse is said to have been so great that the rock was split 40 meters deep by the step.
